These are my views. I do not mean any offense by them.

Religion: Which is the one, true faith?

Illustration: Worship at church

As some of you may already know; I am not a part of any religion. This is a choice I made on my own back in the spring of 2002. I realize that this is in major conflict with both my mother and father's families. I lost my interest in the religion that I grew up in, Methodist, because I saw so many of the same faith act in direct contrast to what they claimed to believe in nearly everyday. I also thought it peculiar that many people attended church just to look good in the eyes of others. I find this pathetic.
I realize that a majority of people need religion (it doesn't matter which) to give structure and meaning to their lives. Now don't get me wrong; I see nothing wrong with this. The thing that bothers me is many across America don't really know or understand their chosen faith. Following blindly along will get you nowhere. Part of the reason for this epidemic is that lots of people just stick with the religion they were brought up on but don't have the will to question their parents' choice.
I encourage everyone to at least take a look at some different religions and compare them with your own. Sure you may choose not to change faiths but you'll walk away with a better understanding of other people's beliefs and hopefully become more in tune with your own.

Politics: Will we ever be told the truth?

It's always seems to be about money in this country.

Ah, politics. The basis of our government and yet at the same time our downfall. Yes as you can probably already tell; I am not a fan of our democracy. It is my belief that the United States Government does not work. Sure, I know what loyal citizens say to people who think as I do: "If you don't like it - get out!" Well I'm not about to leave the country just because I don't like the government. I simply wish to voice my opinions. Call it complaining if you want (I call it freedom of speece) but I take pride in standing up for what I believe in.
Democracy does have it's strong points but unfortunately people in power will almost always abuse it. Many examples come to mind: the recent war with Iraq, Watergate, the 2000 Presidential Elections, the list is endless. The point I am trying to make is that democracy can only, truly work when greed is taken out of the picture. But hey, we're human, right? It's not entirely all our fault. It's our nature.
The thing that most Americans don't realize is that we have the power to correct all our political problems. If enough people band together the government has to listen to and do what we say. It's a democracy remember? A government by the people and for the people. It's our government. We decide how it's run. Unfortunately not enough citizens want to stand up and take the initiative - or at least support someone who does. That's why our society, economy, and government are in bad shape. Sure we may be getting along okay now but we could be doing soooo much better! Think about it.
